An overview of plasma diagnostics is given with particular emphasis on their richness and diversity. Different methods to measure electron temperature in a plasma are presented, namely Thomson scattering systems, Langmuir probes, two foil methods. The experimental implementation of these techniques is discussed in tokamaks, field reversed configuration and basic plasma physics experiments.
